Why Black Dog?

Black Dog Candle Shoppe was inspired by our love of dogs — and by the ones too often overlooked.

The name is a nod to “Black Dog Syndrome,” a term used to describe the challenges black dogs can face in shelters, including being passed over for adoption.

What began as a way to shine a little more light on those dogs has grown into something bigger: candles that celebrate the dogs we love, honor the ones we’ve lost, and tell the stories that stay with us.
