Fun Spring Activities to do with your dog.

Fun Spring Activities to do with your dog.

April 9th  is Easter this year! Soon we’ll see spring flowers and it’ll be time for Easter festivities! Easter is a great holiday that we’ve always enjoyed with family and friends.  If you can't wait to get outside and do some fun dog activities, here are some ideas,

Dog Easter Egg Hunt

Hop into this fun and affordable tradition! Have a doggy Easter egg hunt for your dogs at home.

For the Easter eggs, make sure you grab sizes that are appropriate for the dogs, also use eggs that have small holes in them so dogs can sniff out the treats inside.

Put 1 or 2 small treats in each egg and hide them.  Make it fun and exciting by hiding eggs in different areas of your yard.  Please be cautious of poisonous plants or bushes that have thorns or other potentially dangerous areas.

Just keep in mind that this is not a good activity for dogs who chew on plastic or who crunch things up enthusiastically.  Hopefully the weather in your area will cooperate.  This is a perfect activity to help your dog kick the winter blues.

Paw Print Garden Steppingstones or Rocks

If you have a green thumb or enjoy beautifying the outside of your home, you’ll love this one. Painting, paw-printing and decorating rocks or stepping stones is fun for the whole family. I’m thinking of trying something like this in my yard too.  I need to wait to the weather breaks but what a great idea for steppingstones.  The rocks would need to be bigger but you get the idea.  So fun!

New Physical or Enrichment Activity

Spring is about coming back to life after a winter’s sleep. Nature awakens, people refresh their living spaces, and it’s a great time to give your dog(s) something new, too.

Try a new activity with your pet. Try finding a walking path in your area that is new to you.  We recently moved to a new area so this is a definite must for us!  Call on friends to meet you who have dogs that are compatible so they can get some socialization too.  Our a new dog park could be a great for dogs to get some time to run.  Our dog park has a Starbucks near, so we always stop for coffees and a puppichinos.

You can also refresh some of your pet’s belongings. A new bed will spruce up your home for spring and give your pet something new to sniff and cuddle into.
